343% organic revenue growth in 30 days — inside an 8-month recovery from stagnation.

Lone Star Mushrooms had a beautiful Shopify store, real products and traffic that wasn’t converting into anything sustainable. A third-party audit tool said the site was healthy. Google’s own data said something else entirely.

The situation

A real business, quietly stuck.

Lone Star Mushrooms is a family-owned farm in Houston, run by three brothers on a “seed-to-supplement” model — they grow, process and ship premium gourmet mushrooms and mushroom-based supplements themselves, which gives them genuine traceability most competitors can’t claim.

The store looked good. The products were real and well-reviewed. None of that was translating into sustainable revenue. Growth was almost entirely rented — dependent on paid ads and organic social and the moment either slowed down, so did the business.

That’s a common pattern, and it’s rarely solved by spending more on ads. The question wasn’t how to get more traffic. It was why the traffic they already had wasn’t building into anything.

The diagnosis

The audit tool said the site was healthy. It wasn't.

Before touching anything, the site was checked against a standard third-party audit — the kind most stores rely on to sanity-check their SEO. It came back looking fine.

Third-party tool

96

Site health score — comfortably "good," the kind of number that closes an investigation before it starts.

Google’s own data

40

Mobile PageSpeed score, found inside Search Console and PageSpeed Insights — flagged critical, in red.

That gap is the entire point of investigating rather than trusting a single score. A generic health metric can look excellent while the exact signals Google itself uses say otherwise. Going into Search Console and PageSpeed Insights directly — rather than stopping at the summary score — is what surfaced the real picture.

What the deeper look found

Three problems hiding under a passing grade.

Mobile speed was failing where most shoppers actually are

Most ecommerce traffic is mobile now. A 40 out of 100 on PageSpeed Insights means a slow, frustrating experience for the majority of visitors — before a single word of content mattered.

40

mobile score

Core Web Vitals were failing on dozens of pages

Search Console showed 29 URLs failing Google's page experience signals — a direct input into how Google evaluates and ranks pages, not a cosmetic issue.

29

failing URLs

Hundreds of pages were crawled, but never indexed

Googlebot was reaching the pages and choosing not to index them — "Crawled, currently not indexed" — compounded by canonical tag conflicts telling Google to look elsewhere entirely.

The recovery

Foundation first. Everything else after.

Three stages, deliberately in this order — because content and authority work can’t compound on a foundation Google can’t properly crawl or trust.

STAGE 1 · TECHNICAL SEO

Fix what Google can't get past

  • Mobile speed optimized off the 40 baseline
  • Core Web Vitals failures resolved across the 29 flagged URLs
  • Indexing errors fixed so crawled pages could actually get indexed
STAGE 2 · CONTENT, AIMED AT BUYERS

Stop writing for traffic. Write for intent.

Instead of general content, the focus shifted to buyer-intent keywords — the searches people make right before they purchase — paired with product schema to strengthen purchase signals. Content was built to be genuinely useful to both readers and search engines, not padded to hit a word count.

As pages became clearer and more relevant, many of the previously "crawled but not indexed" URLs started getting indexed on their own.

STAGE 3 · AUTHORITY BUILDING

Earn trust Google could verify

With a Domain Rating of just 7, the site had almost no external trust signal. Backlinks were built from authoritative sites within the health niche specifically — relevance mattered more than volume.

The results

Organic became the most profitable channel.

Within 30 days of the technical foundation being fixed, revenue growth by channel told its own story.

CHANNEL REVENUE CHANGE READ
Organic Social −23.1% Declining
Paid Search (Ads) +105.8% Growth, at a cost
Organic Search (SEO) +343.6% Highest-margin channel
Total site revenue +233.2% All channels combined

Two different numbers worth keeping separate: the 343% figure is organic search channel revenue, which grew from $196 to $871 in the 30-day window measured in GA4. Separately, the Shopify dashboard shows total store sales up 112% to roughly $9,974 for the same period, with total orders nearly doubling (+105%). Both are real — they’re just measuring different things, and worth presenting that way rather than folded into one number.

2,800+

This page covers the diagnosis, the strategy, and the verified numbers. The full technical write-up — PageSpeed scores, Search Console reports, the GA4 and Shopify dashboards, and the keyword ranking history — is documented in detail on my agency’s site.

Why it worked

The order mattered as much as the work.

None of these three stages would have worked in a different sequence. Authority and content can’t compound on a site Google can’t fully crawl and index — a backlink pointing at a page that isn’t indexed is close to wasted, and a well-written page nobody can find behaves the same way.

Fixing the technical foundation first is what let the content and authority work actually register. That’s also why the 343% figure showed up in a 30-day window rather than gradually — once the indexing and crawl issues cleared, pages that had been invisible for months became eligible to rank all at once.

The long-term numbers matter more than the spike. 2,800+ keywords and a site health score holding near 99% eight months in mean this wasn’t a temporary bump — it’s a channel that kept compounding after the initial fix.

On this engagement: I led the diagnosis and directed the strategy across all three stages. Implementation was carried out by my team at SEO Service Care, working from that direction.

"We were stuck relying on expensive ads. The technical issues got fixed, the content strategy changed, and our organic growth completely turned around — in one month, our organic revenue shot up by 343%."

Lone Star Mushrooms

Worth taking away

What this case says for any store in the same position.

A passing audit score isn't proof of health. A 96 from a third-party tool sat next to a 40 mobile speed score in Google's own data. The summary number and the underlying reality aren't always the same thing.

Paid ads and organic revenue behave differently under pressure. Ads produced growth here too — but only while the spend continued. Organic kept compounding after the fix.

Traffic and intent aren't the same target. The keyword strategy here wasn't built around volume — it was built around what someone searches for right before they buy.
